Navigating The Stairs In Your Home

Friday, May 31st, 2013

It is amazing how the stairway lifts have evolved over the years. The very first one that I remember seeing was at a house that I was helping my friend clean and get ready for a wedding. It was the very basic stairway lift and it didn’t look very comfortable. I wanted to give it a try so very much but didn’t know how to use it and god forbid if I had broken it, there was no way I could have come up enough money to pay for the repairs that it would need, so I stayed away from it and just checked it out from a distance. I just loved the concept and couldn’t seem to stop gazing at it.

These stairway lifts have become very popular over the years. They certainly have a bigger and better selection of stairway lifts for today’s customers wants and needs. I still haven’t had the opportunity to actually sit and use one though. Guess that’s a good thing in the long run. Hopefully I will never had the need to use one either!

Check out how they can now make this stairway lifts for curved staircases that are so popular in so many homes these days.

Old and Rusty Lanyards

Sunday, May 19th, 2013

A buddy of mine came to visit a few weeks ago and we had planned to go out to the ocean and go fishing, water skiing and knee boarding. We were both so excited to spend some time away from home and have some fun, and go wild. We made a list of things we needed not just for the road trip but for the trip on the water as well.

It took a lot of thinking and gathering to get everything we needed but we did it. Before we knew it we were out on the open road on the way to the ocean front with my buddies boat hooked to the back of the truck ready to rock and roll on the water. When we finally got to the boat dock, my buddy noticed that his lanyards were old and rusty and needed replacing as soon as possible.

I searched Google through my phone to find a good deal on lanyards, and it didn’t take much time at all to come across a site that offers lanyard pins at a great price, so I immediately ordered some for him without him knowing at the time. When it arrived shortly after, I wrapped them up as a gift, knowing his Birthday was in a few days, and gave them to him before he had left to go back home.

He was so happy to have them for his boat, I couldn’t be any more thrilled to know I helped my buddy out, when he least expected it. It might have been a small item, but its something he needed and the price wasn’t something I couldn’t ignore.

Recycle Those Paper Version Phone Books

Friday, May 17th, 2013

I’m tossing out (actually I’m recycling) my local phone books. There are so darn many of them and they just take up a lot of room and don’t get used, as long as I have access to the Internet that is.  When I need to find or get information about some one or some place I get it quickly while I’m online. I can’t even remember the last time I looked anything up in any of the paper version phone books. So out the door they go and a good riddance.

Like earlier today I spent some time online looking for a decent San Francisco auto repair center. I went to repairpal.com and found several that seemed to match my needs. My Honda Accord which is my only means of transportation is in need of a new timing belt and I don’t want to use any of my charge cards that I have in my wallet for several well known auto service centers. I’m determined not to use any of my credit cards, it’s a challenge but it’s working for me. So far I haven’t had to use a credit card since September of last year, not even for Christmas!

The Muscle Car

Monday, April 1st, 2013

My older brothers and most of their friends were (and still are) muscle car freaks. There was always at least one car in the back drive way that was being worked on and/or restored and I learned a lot about cars by being surrounded by them growing up, if the car wasn’t from the 60′s or 70′s or earlier they just didn’t hold our interest even though there has been a few cool cars manufactured since then, not many but a few.

We have an annual fair and parade in our town each May and there is always a good amount of muscle cars, antique vehicles, fire engines, hot rods, motorcycles and the like cruising the town in anticipation of participating in the parade. This is a huge parade and people come from all over to watch and to participate in it each year. I enjoy watching the high school bands, the dancers, beauty pageant queens, the civic groups, celebrities and the local politicians that are in the parade, along with various other entries that entertain the large crowds.  But my favorite is when the muscle cars start coming down the street and the Harley Davidson’s of course. They just get me going, big time!

It’s cool to see that some of the older model cars are starting to go back to some of the classic looks. The new Mustang the new Corvette and the new Camaro are starting to make more appearances around town now and then. Heads are turning to see how they look from behind and to how they sound. A guy that used to hang around my brothers just bought a new 2010 Camaro and is looking for Chevy Camaro accessories to start souping her up for his fall and winter project.  By next May he may be ready to cruise along the parade route along with the newer good-looking cars.

Spring Cleaning

Saturday, March 30th, 2013

This has been the perfect week to do some spring cleaning. The house has become such a cluttered mess that I feel the need to get right down to business and move some stuff as well as getting rid of some things that are really just taking up my much-needed space. With several family members (if everyone shows up it could be up to 11 people) expected for Easter dinner tomorrow afternoon, it has really made be aware of my clutter situation.

I had to take a bunch of stuff downstairs, but first I had to move around some of that stuff first. It was like taking a trip down memory lane when I came across the boxes of stuff from the major insurance company that worked at for so many years back in the day. All the stuff from the town parade that I was in charge of organizing and getting people involved in from this insurance company, all the way down to getting the vinyl banners printing to use for occasions just like the town parade. Those were good times. I learned a lot from working there, made a lot of friends and connections that I still care about and utilized from back then.
