Animal Planet

Wednesday, June 23rd, 2010

One of my favorite channels to watch is The Animal Planet. The show “Whale Wars” is most interesting and has brought a lot of attention to the problems that these whales are experiencing. It’s good to see people dedicate their time and their safety to these water creatures that have fascinated people for so long all over the world. Amazing what we can do if we pull together for a common cause such as this one.

Regal Gold Coins

Monday, May 3rd, 2010

Most of us are very aware of the fact that gold is a great investment. I know several people that are seriously learning all that they can about gold coins and gold bullion and I’m hearing people at work talking about gold more and more these days. Of course we have all been seeing all the advertisements for “Cash For Gold” these couple of past years. Most of the major malls have a kiosk set up that will buy your old, unused and unwanted gold pieces, they are doing a booming business. People are looking for ways to bring more cash into their very empty wallets since the economy seems to be at a stand still, at the bottom of the barrel.

I’m learning, as well about gold price today issues from hearing bits and pieces from these good folks. Of course we have Internet access at work so we look up all types of interesting websites through out the day. Today we were learning about krugerrand gold at a website regalgoldcoins.com. It seems that this type of gold is from South Africa and is highly sought after due to it’s purity. I’d love to see one, nothing like getting an up close look and a good feel of things.

Always Check Your Child’s Homework

(Here’s the reply the teacher received the following day)

Dear Mrs. Swanson,

I wish to clarify that I am not now, nor have I ever been, an exotic dancer. I work at Home Depot and I told my daughter how hectic it was last week before the blizzard hit. I told her we sold out every single shovel we had, and then I found one more in the back room, and that several people were fighting over who would get to buy it. Her picture doesn’t show me dancing around a pole. It’s supposed to depict me selling the last snow shovel we had at Home Depot.

From now on I will remember to check her homework more thoroughly before she turns it in.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Jacobs

Going Green, Down Under………………

Monday, December 21st, 2009

As you know I enjoy surfing the World Wide Web. It fascinates me so to be able to peek into other worlds, people’s lives and their towns and some times their country as well, business and personnel alike. Google has a few great translation sites that come in handy, when needed. I prefer looking into things that are basically in our language, you know places from the U.K and Australia they are the easiest and I usually enjoy reading about what is going on there.

The one site that I was looking into was one of their waste management services that is committed to resource recovery and recycling in Australia. I’m a total recycling advocate and am always looking into companies that recycle. When I googled “facilities management sydney” I came up with veoliaes.com and had an interesting read on what they are doing for our Mother Earth and being as green as they can.

I was glad to see that they just recently started their “Clean Up and Out for the New Year” urging to get people to call and talk to them about the range of skip bins that they have available for their customers, to make recycling even easier than it is all ready. If you are provided a bin to put your cans and glass jars in and a bin to put your paper products in then what else needs to be done in order to get your recyclables to where they need to be to be recycled.

I know that I want my kids and grandchildren to live in a clean world. One with trees, water and fresh air. By golly I’m going to do what I can to make sure that they have these things, it’s all good!

Circumcised Issues

Tuesday, December 15th, 2009

A teacher noticed that a little boy at the back of the class was squirming around, scratching his crotch, and not paying attention. She went back to find out what was going on. He was quite embarrassed and whispered that he had just recently been circumcised and he was quite itchy.

The teacher told him to go down to the principal’s office. He was to telephone his mother and ask her what he should do about it. He did it and returned to his class. Suddenly, there was a commotion at the back of the room She went back to investigate only to find him sitting at his desk with his penis hanging out.

‘I thought I told you to call your mom!’ she said. ‘I did,’ he said, ‘And she told me that if I could stick it out till noon, she’d come and pick me up from school.’
