The Muscle Car

Thursday, August 5th, 2010

My older brothers and most of their friends were (and still are) muscle car freaks. There was always at least one car in the back drive way that was being worked on and/or restored and I learned a lot about cars by being surrounded by them growing up. If the car wasn’t from the 60′s or 70′s or earlier they just didn’t hold our interest even though there has been a few cool cars manufactured since then, not many but a few.

We have an annual fair and parade in our town each May and there is always a good amount of muscle cars, antique vehicles, fire engines, hot rods, motorcycles and the like cruising the town in anticipation of participating in the parade. This is a huge parade and people come from all over to watch and to participate in it each year. I enjoy watching the high school bands, the dancers, beauty pageant queens, the civic groups, celebrities and the local politicians that are in the parade, along with various other entries that entertain the large crowds.  But my favorite is when the muscle cars start coming down the street and the Harley Davidsons of course. They just get me going, big time!

It’s cool to see that some of the older model cars are starting to go back to some of the classic looks. The new Mustang the new Corvette and the new Camaro are starting to make more appearances around town now and then. Heads are turning to see how they look from behind and to how they sound. A guy that used to hang around my brothers just bought a new 2010 camaro and is looking for chevy camaro accessories to start souping her up for his fall and winter project.  By next May he may be ready to cruise along the parade route along with the newer good looking cars.

Holiday Table Talk about Identity Theft

Thursday, January 7th, 2010

Such interesting (and some not too interesting) stories are told around the holiday’s dinner table each and every year. There are some stories that will be told over and over each year as well as the new ones that are being formed as we speak.

I’m the type of person that is happy sitting just about anywhere, beside anybody, heck I don’t even mind having to sit at the “kids” table. I always have a blast with the kids and at times enjoy what they are talking about more than the adults are gabbing on and on about! Some years I eat the meal with the big kids and then spend time eating desert with the younger ones of the family, it works out well.

This year I spent the whole meal at the “kids” table. It was a lot of fun, I got to spend time with my nieces and nephews that I normally don’t have a lot of time to do through out the year. Besides all my parents wanted to discuss that night was all the home improvement stories that they have been saving for the Christmas dinner. They have been busy bees around the place and were just bursting to gab about it all. Kinda cute actually, it’s cool to see them that jazzed up about something for a change.

They have been looking for some time at the different Mailboxes that are on the market these days. They had to make sure that their mailbox had their street number on it and came with a good durable lock to keep their mail safe. The neighborhood has been going down hill a bit lately and they have had to deal with mail boxes being vandalized and mail being stolen. Not good, ya know. So they have been doing their home work and utilizing the Internet to their best ability, to learn all they could about Residential Mailboxes and where to get the best product for a good price. My dad was even willing to purchase one of the Commercial Mailboxes if he had to in order to keep their mail safe. They are taking this very seriously and I am proud of them for it. Identity theft is a major issue with our senior citizens, we don’t even want to end up going there.

Towers on The Grove, Myrtle Beach

Tuesday, December 22nd, 2009

O.K. the Christmas rush is totally on. Tomorrow is Christmas Eve and I’ve finally finishing all my shopping and preparations that have needed all of my attention this last week or so. The 21 inches of snow that we got over the weekend made it a challenge for most us to get everything done. The roads are a nightmare, the malls are packed and I’m so done with Christmas shopping at this point.

I’m off work tomorrow, so I’ll be spending the day getting the very last minute odds and ends done and then I’m going to spend the rest of the day on my laptop. I’m still digging around for the best Oceanfront Myrtle Beach Resort that I want to spend time at this up and coming summer with a few friends. I had no idea that there were so many Oceanfront Myrtle Beach Resorts to choose from, but it has been interesting, to say the least.

I’ve had a few folks recommend some of their favorite Oceanfront Myrtle Beach Hotels, but just can’t make a commitment right now. I really want to have somethings lined up before I see these friends again, which will be right after Christmas. I’d like to have at least one or two of the better Oceanfront Myrtle Beach Hotel information readily available to present to them, so it’s a good thing I have the day off tomorrow.

I’ll keep you posted and wish you and yours a very Happy Holiday!
