The Rising Need for A Good Burglar Alarm

Saturday, August 21st, 2010

Desperate times call for desperate measures. Times couldn’t be much more desperate than what our economy issues have reduced us to. Drug and alcohol abuse is on the rise and burglaries are happening like crazy, big time. We are seeing more and more of the ADT Home Security Systems yard signs are popping up all over all of the neighborhoods. ADT has been in the security business for over 130 years so they must be doing something right, right?

They (ADT) have a good website at www.homesecurityteam.com which is full of useful tips, offers, packages, contact information, installation issues and all the other information that a good quality web site that is user friendly has to offer. Burglar Alarms are getting to be a necessity and are becoming more affordable so this is a great site to check out.
The days of having a weapon and/or a big dog or two have gone past us. A good security system with video cameras are the way to go these days. I’ve never experienced a home break-in, but I do know some folks that have experienced it and there stories are hard to listen to. I just can’t imagine going through such a thing. I can see where they would always feel violated and tarnished in so many ways. I definitely would be sleeping with a big gun under pillow if that ever happened. I do have a few weapons but they are tucked away safe and secure, all legal like and I go to the shooting range every so often and am a pretty decent shot. I wouldn’t want to have to ever use one on somebody though.

The War Is Over

Thursday, August 19th, 2010

At least that was what they were saying all over the late news last night. The last of the American troops were putting along in the last of the convoys leaving Iraq. It wasn’t all that exciting coverage but exciting news. Now let’s get on with it and let’s roll.

Taxes

Thursday, March 11th, 2010

Gonna get my taxes down this weekend. April 15th is creeping up and I want to get it done and over with. Hopefully is won’t cost me an arm and leg to have them filed and I’m thinking that I’ll be getting a good chunk of change back from good old Uncle Sam.

The Subject of Gold

Thursday, December 17th, 2009

Something that I don’t have a lot of knowledge on is the subject of gold. At work the ladies are constantly talking about how they are digging into their jewelry boxes to find their old and broken gold necklaces, gold rings and gold bracelets and taking them down to the local mall, where there is a kiosk set up to bring your gold pieces and sell them for some pretty good money. Apparently the price of gold and silver has risen to record prices this last year and people are flocking to sell their gold in order to bring in some much needed money to pay the bills that we are all struggling with due to economy being in such a mess. I can’t help but wonder when we will start seeing some type of light at the end of this long dark tunnel.

Anyway, I decided that I should take a look and see if their were any pieces that I had that I could cash in. I sure could use some extra cash these days. Christmas is right around the corner and I’m not able to many presents this year and it really sucks. I’m trying to concentrate on making sure that the kids in the family get some gifts and pretty much leave it at that. I mean Christmas is basically for the religious and the kids, right?

Independence Day Cheers

Friday, July 3rd, 2009

More attention seems to be paid to the picnics and fireworks that we celebrate the 4th of July with, then the fact that we are celebrating due to the fact that many have lost lives all in the name of Independence. May you have a safe and blessed holiday!
