The Rising Need for A Good Burglar Alarm

Saturday, August 21st, 2010

Desperate times call for desperate measures. Times couldn’t be much more desperate than what our economy issues have reduced us to. Drug and alcohol abuse is on the rise and burglaries are happening like crazy, big time. We are seeing more and more of the ADT Home Security Systems yard signs are popping up all over all of the neighborhoods. ADT has been in the security business for over 130 years so they must be doing something right, right?

They (ADT) have a good website at www.homesecurityteam.com which is full of useful tips, offers, packages, contact information, installation issues and all the other information that a good quality web site that is user friendly has to offer. Burglar Alarms are getting to be a necessity and are becoming more affordable so this is a great site to check out.
The days of having a weapon and/or a big dog or two have gone past us. A good security system with video cameras are the way to go these days. I’ve never experienced a home break-in, but I do know some folks that have experienced it and there stories are hard to listen to. I just can’t imagine going through such a thing. I can see where they would always feel violated and tarnished in so many ways. I definitely would be sleeping with a big gun under pillow if that ever happened. I do have a few weapons but they are tucked away safe and secure, all legal like and I go to the shooting range every so often and am a pretty decent shot. I wouldn’t want to have to ever use one on somebody though.

The War Is Over

Thursday, August 19th, 2010

At least that was what they were saying all over the late news last night. The last of the American troops were putting along in the last of the convoys leaving Iraq. It wasn’t all that exciting coverage but exciting news. Now let’s get on with it and let’s roll.

4th of July in The High Heat

Monday, July 5th, 2010

We ventured down into the city to watch the fireworks. It was a very hot day and it didn’t cool down much by the time the fireworks were scheduled to start going off, but we made it through it the evening without suffering from a heat stroke. The fireworks went off without a hitch, although the next day’s news programs were full of stories of fireworks mishaps from all over the country. That is scary.

2010 Hopefully A Good Year

Sunday, December 13th, 2009

God I love the Internet and how it has made our lives so much easier in so many ways!  I’ve got my mind set on buying a new car next year, when I get my tax refund check direct deposited into my bank account and I’ve been surfing the Net to see what’s out there. I can’t imagine running around from dealership to dealership looking around, asking questions and dealing with hard core salesmen that are desperate for a sale in today’s totally screwed up economy.

My father insists that I go with a chevy, while my mother is trying to sway me towards a kia. She has owned her kia for several years now and couldn’t be happier with it and is sure that I’d be happy with one as well. Her kia is cute and it floats her boat, but to tell you the truth I’m leaning towards a nice sweet clean looking nissan, maybe a Murano or a Versa. I like the look and the feel of a nissan. One of my friends owns one and I’ve driven it a few times and I really enjoyed it each time I’ve gotten behind the wheel of it.

I’ve found a great web site www.thecarconnection.com that has been a tremendous help in so many ways. It’s got reviews, photos, finance options, a classified section, tips, news articles and more info than I’d ever hoped for about all kinds of vehicles that I’m so very glad to have found online. I’m sure that what ever I come up with will be putting a big old grin on my face in the year of 2010, I can’t wait!

Darn That Weatherman

Saturday, December 5th, 2009

I’ve never really relied on what the weatherman predicts for us. As a matter of fact one of my favorite sayings is “Don’t trust a weatherman, and for God sake’s don’t ever hook up with one, you couldn’t trust one as far as you could throw them!” But I have to say that this time he hit the nail on the head. We got slammed today with 6 inches of snow and I can’t say that he didn’t warn us, sigh…………….

The whole weekend screwed up do to such nasty weather. Gonna have to find something to do around the place tomorrow, and it isn’t going to be housework I can tell you that!
