Cheer It Up Some, Please……

Saturday, August 28th, 2010

It must suck to have to wear the same old lab coat day in and day out. The only good thing I can imagine is that you never have to worry about what to wear that day, only needing to make sure that your limited supply of lab coats are clean and wrinkle free and what shoes to wear.

So many of today’s medical professionals can choose from a variety of scrub uniforms that we are seeing more and more of out and about in our daily lives. The ones that are geared for the pediatric sector are really cute. I’m sure it makes a difference for the kids that they deal with each day and hopefully cheer up the place as well. Lord knows a busy pediatrics office can use all the cheering up that they can get. I can’t imagine working in that environment with all the crying and screaming kids day after day after day……..

4th of July in The High Heat

Monday, July 5th, 2010

We ventured down into the city to watch the fireworks. It was a very hot day and it didn’t cool down much by the time the fireworks were scheduled to start going off, but we made it through it the evening without suffering from a heat stroke. The fireworks went off without a hitch, although the next day’s news programs were full of stories of fireworks mishaps from all over the country. That is scary.

Insurance Needs

Thursday, May 20th, 2010

My mother has been after me to look around for the best insurance coverage for myself. I have been meaning to start this process for over a year and just keep pushing it aside for other matters that keep coming up. So today I found the site for a company Paradiso Insurance that I took a look around at. I found it to be a very user friendly site, they even have a Virtual Agent that you can click on to provide you with all kinds of information. I love that you can get a free quote right online, so much better than having to call around to different agents that have been located in the Yellow Pages.

I know that having a life insurance is very important. We have all heard horror stories about people that didn’t have any coverage and in their passing have left their loved ones in a terrible mess and I wouldn’t want that to happen to my loved ones. I’m going to get off my butt and get this task taken care of and will also get my will planned out and taken care of. Might as well get it all over and done with and get my mother off of my back and there will be one less thing on my list of things to get done.

Today’s Smoke Break Issues

Friday, February 12th, 2010

Today smoking is a big issue, they have even come out with electronic cigarettes for people to use. It sounds quite interesting and if I were still a smoke I think that I would consider trying them. They are better for your health, they don’t smell up the place or your hair, your clothes and all that. Plus no cigarette butts or dirty ash trays to deal with.

I remember when I worked in the H.R. department for a school for kids with mental health issues. Most of the people in that department were smokers, I was a smoker at that time as well. Every few hours we would all get up and go outside for our smoke break where we would stand and smoke and chat it up for usually 15 minutes or more. Once in a while a non smoker would come out and shoot the breeze with us during that time. No one gave it a second thought, that was just the way it was. I remember a manager coming outside one day to find the entire department outside and she was a bit upset at the non smoking employees for being away from their desks and a big discussion was had about the non smokers wanting and needing the opportunity for a break as well. It only made sense to me that if smokers were allowed these breaks that the non smokers should be able to get up and go outside as well, no big deal.

I found an interesting online video concerning smoke break alternatives that brought back these smoke break memories. I’m glad that I quite smoking years ago and don’t have to worry about any of these issues anymore. I feel better, smell better and have more money to spend on other things that need my attention these days.

Today’s Funny – A Guy Named Larry

Thursday, February 11th, 2010

LARRY IS IN ROOM 232. Ok, so you’re asking, who in the heck is ‘Larry’? Well let me tell you about Larry.

Larry gets home late one night and Linda, his wife says, ‘Where in the heck have you been?’

Larry replies, ‘I was out getting a tattoo.’

”A tattoo?’ she frowned. ‘What kind of tattoo did you get?

”I got a hundred dollar bill on my privates,’ he said proudly.

‘What the heck were you thinking?! She said, shaking her head in disgust. ‘Why on earth would an Accountant get a hundred dollar bill Tattooed on his privates?’

“Well, One, I like to watch my money grow. Two, once in a while I like to play with my money. Three, I like how money feels in my hand. And, lastly, instead of you going out shopping, you can stay right here at home and blow a hundred bucks anytime you want.”

Larry is recovering in Room 232 at the Hospital.
